Yesterday, on the occasion of 75th Independence Day Welfare Party of India organized a symposium at River View Hotel in New Delhi.

Adv. Prashant Bhushan alongwith Dr.Zafarul Islam Khan, Mr. Raghvan Srinivasan, Mr. Shamsher Ibrahim were present in the program as speakers. Welfare Party National President Dr. SQR Ilyas presided the event.

Prashant Bhushan, The senior advocate of Supreme Court, delivered his speech on the topic – “75th Independence Day & The Idea of India”.

Attending the sypmosium organized by Welfare Party on the occasion of independence day, Adv Prashant Bhushan said the Election Commission has turned into a mere puppet of the Central govt.

He said that a large portion of the majority Hindu have yet remains non-communal.

He ephaaized on the need of the civil society to come forward and organize a nation-wide protest over the rising unemployment.

Dr. Zafarul Islam Khan, the former Chairman of the Delhi Minorities Commission, said our fore-fathers had not laid their lives for the beloved- country for this sort independence where a party would fight election and come to power by any means and act as a dictatorial entity for the next five years.

Dr. Khan pointed out that Over 600 incidents mobl-ynching took place in the span of six years, between 2014-2020 in the country.

Dr. SQR Ilyas, National President of Welfare Party, criticized the government is arresting people for registering democratic protests.

Dr. SQR Ilyas said opposition voices are the safety-valve of any democratic set-up, but the govt. is putting the dissidents behind bars.

Dr. Ilyas accused the Modi govt. without mentionning any name of its appeasement policy. He said the govt. is recruiting its own people in different governmental posts.

He said, it’s high time to occupy the streets and organize mass-protests on the issues that concern the common people most.

Dr. Ilyas said the petitions filed in the Supreme Court challenging the validity of the abrogation of the Article 370 in J&K are still pending, verdict is awaited.
