Mr. Abdur Rahman of Nandura, Distt. Buldana, has been elected as the State President of the WPI Maharashtra. The State General Council (SGC) of Maharashtra, in its meeting on 22nd June 2024 at Akola, elected Mr. Abdur Rahman with a majority vote and also elected 25 members to the State Working Committee. The meeting was presided over by the National President, Dr. S. Q. R. Ilyas.

In his keynote address, the National President, Dr. S. Q. R. Ilyas, reminded the SGC members why WPI was formed and highlighted the salient features of its ideology. He stated that WPI is an alternative to the current communal, criminal, corrupt, and opportunistic politics.

Dr. S. Q. R. Ilyas said, “We believe in and practice value-based politics. The recently concluded parliamentary election also exposed the political parties and their nominees. The entire election campaign was fought on rhetoric and not on real issues, with few exceptions. In this situation, we should come forward and present ourselves as an alternative, but it requires a lot of struggle and commitment. I hope under the leadership of Mr. Abdur Rahman, Maharashtra WPI will take up this challenge. Now, within a few months, you are going to face assembly and local body elections. Make proper plans, select limited seats, and work hard to achieve success.” He extended his best wishes to the new leadership.
